As Spring approaches, many gardeners will be handling & applying a variety of chemical compounds to their gardens. Many of those pesticides and other chemicals can be hazardous to health. Some are immediately poisonous, while others may have long-term effects or be carcinogens.
For safety’s sake, always read directions carefully, and wear appropriate protective gear. That may include a breathing mask or respirator, eye protection, gloves, and perhaps protective clothing.
Remember the old saying about poisonous chemicals:
“If you smell it, you just inhaled it!”
And another one:
“If a chemical reaches your nose, it is all over your clothes!”
Change clothes after applying chemicals, and wash those clothes separately from other garments.
