Several national and international hibiscus organizations are dedicated (primarily) to the growing and hybridizing of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis:
American Hibiscus Society
Australian Hibiscus Society
Hibiscus Society of Queensland
International Hibiscus Society (online "virtual" organization)
Latin American Hibiscus Society
(There are probably some additional non-English organizations of which this editor is not aware.)
Unfortunately, at this time, there is no world-wide “umbrella” organization for Hibiscus growers. This has led to unfortunate rivalry between some organizations over perceived points of prestige, and a great deal of duplication and wasted effort in the matter of hibiscus nomenclature.
