AHS Convention – June 17-20, 2010

The American Hibiscus Society (AHS) will hold its annual convention in Orlando, Florida, from June 17 through June 20, 2010. This year’s event will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Lake Buena Vista. Address: 8100 Lake Avenue, Orlando, FL 32836. Hotel phone: 1-800-560-7782.

2010 Convention Schedule:

Thursday: President’s Committee and Board meetings
Friday: Committee meetings and Judges seminar
Saturday: General Seesion, announcement of Election results, field trips Sunday: Hibiscus Chapter Reports, final “wrap up” and closing.

Each year, around mid-to-late summer, gardeners often notice something unusual about the hibiscus plants they purchased in early Spring.

The new hibiscus plants had been compact, with dense foliage, and covered with blooms. Then, after a few months, the plants become gangly, with more stem showing between the leaf nodes. And the original lavish display of blooms that looked so great at the nursery is greatly reduced.

Space City Hibiscus Show, June 6, 2010

Sunday June 6th, Space City Hibiscus Society will have its last show of the 2010 at East Harris County Activity Center 7340 Spencer Highway Pasadena TX. Doors open from 1 to 4 PM

Admission is FREE and so is the Parking. There will be experts available to help you with any questions about your hibisucus plants. Also SPACE CITY FERTILIZER will be available. This is a great place to see plants that are not normally available at local big box stores. Please pass this along to those that you think would like to see some great Hibiscus blooms, it helps us get the word out. (Provided by Doc Brooks)
